I stopped by a local greenhouse to get some fresh basil for our homemade pizzas and on a whim I bought a bag of ladybugs (organic pesticide). The grandchildren were fascinated with the creatures, letting them crawl on their hands and then shaking them off (gently, gently) into the garden. According to the package, there were hundreds of the red bugs with black spots in the mesh bag. Doling them out one or two at a time stretched out the fun and towards the end we were flinging them (gently) by the fistfuls into the flowers. "Fly away home, little ladybugs!"
