A Visit to the Wild Animal Park

A river runs through it...we spent a fun afternoon at the Alaska Wild Animal Park, just outside of the exit to Portage glacier, with Jed, Melissa and the girls.  It was sunny and breezy. We saw bears, moose, musk-ox, deer and bison as we walked around the park.

Can you see the claws on this female brown bear?

 Bison herd

Shortly before this, the girls were waving at the bison and the flapping of their purple arms caught the eye of a large bull who jumped up quickly from the dusty ground and ran off - his quick exit alarmed the rest of the herd who all took off at a gallop for the other end of their enclosure.  "We caused a stampede!" the girls gleefully sang out as they ran to tell us their story.  They had to be talked out of trying their new trick again. :)

 Such a beautiful, bluebird day!
