Kathie Steele with Bonnie and new friends. The Pearl Tower. Bonnie and I.
After dinner, we cruised down the Huangpu River to see the city lights. Our guide told us that all of the lights in the city were turned off at 10 pm to conserve energy. Until then, buildings and boats were lit up like Christmas trees. Snowflakes, sparklers and flowers - all made of lights - danced on the sides of skyscrapers. Strings of lights flashed along the shore and across bridges. Nature put on the best show, though. The evening ended with thunder, rain and brilliant flashes of lightening.
