The beach right beneath our condo lanai. We frequently enjoyed watching the "surfing channel."
A sweet forever family.
"What are we going to do today?" asked Lizzy one morning. Then she answered her own question: "Oh, I know - don't tell me - go to the beach! Every day it's go to the beach, go to the beach..." (in a sarcastic teenager voice) LOL
Yes, mean grandparents and parents that we are, we forced these little girls to leave the condo with it's T.V. and pool and hit the beaches, every day... Even after seeing dazzling vistas of sparkling sand and dancing ocean waves, guess what the girls liked best? Yup, the pool!
Our home away from our home away from home...
These crazy kids stayed still and prone. endless minutes at a time, in order to entice a flock of birds to eat out of their hands. A trio of old men sitting next to our beach spot provided the food and coached the girls in the art of being true "bird ladies."
A sojourner from the sea, taking a rest on the warm sand.
Mother and daughter searching for beach treasures...
The tide pools near our condo were teeming with colorful fish.
Night after night, we were witnesses to the sun's farewell flair as it dipped below the horizon.
An eruption waiting to happen...

Me and my surfer dude - :)
What a blast we had with our son and beautiful daughter-in-law and our adorable grand daughters on the big island of Hawaii. We spent a sun-drenched week enjoying the warm blue surf and sandy beaches, oohing and ahhing at the brilliant sunsets, seeing a smoking volcano field, walking through a lava tunnel, boogie boarding, snorkeling with dolphins and coming nose to nose with a humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Noelle and Lizzy entertained us on the car rides around the island by singing along to the Frozen soundtrack and Taylor Swift's "you be the prince and I'll be the princess" song. We ate sweet apple bananas, delicious salads topped with mango and pineapple chunks, yummy butter avocados, grilled salmon and potato slices. We even picked plumeria blossoms and made our own leis! It was so hard to board a plane and come back to mounds of snow, ice and freezing temperatures.
