Jed and Melissa show the twins Salmon Run
Jed and Lizzy wait for the parade
A Grandpa moment with Noelle
Jed, Noelle, Melissa, Elizabeth, Logan and Terry at Salmon Run in WhittierWe celebrated the 4th of July by driving through a mountain tunnel to Whittier, Alaska. A very (VERY) small town on Prince William Sound. The town parade consisted of two police cars, a fire engine, the garbage truck, a flat bed truck filled with people waving flags, one or two jazzed up pick-ups plus a handful of kids and parents riding bikes decorated with streamers and balloons. (If you're wondering where the pictures of the parade are - honestly, it went by so fast, I didn't even have a chance to focus my camera!) I will say this - the sirens were LOUD, the kids pedaled their hearts out and the community picnic afterwards was great - yummy hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon and apple pie. We chowed down and then explored Whittier (it didn't take long). Jed and Melissa took us to a pretty cove named Salmon Run.
