It wasn't raining in Eagle River when we headed up north to Reed Lakes but by the time we got there it was umbrella weather. But, hey, we're Alaskans - we weren't going to let a little bit of rain spoil our fun...We donned our rain jackets and pants, pulled our rain hoods over our heads and set out. The trail was thick with overgrown alder and willow(this rainy summer has made the plants VERY happy), their leaves heavy and hanging with raindrops. We became soaked through and through as we brushed past the foliage and finally gave up after the trail turned into a small stream. We ate our picnic lunch in the cars. Oh well, it was a pretty drive and I did get one spectacular photo of a wild columbine.
